Meet Matt
Matthew Kikkert is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and the founder of Vera CFO. Since 2020, he has served as fractional CFO to 10+ founder-led companies, helping clients navigate fundraising, financial strategy, and growth across every stage of their business.
That work is grounded in a background most fractional CFOs don't have. A University of Michigan Ross School of Business graduate with emphases in Finance and Accounting, Matt spent six years in institutional finance before launching Vera CFO, including five years in equity research covering the software industry, publishing reports for buy-side clients. That experience built a level of analytical rigor and financial discipline that comes from analyzing businesses at scale, and it bridges two worlds most CFOs never experience together: institutional finance and founder-led startups.
He now brings that experience directly to founders, working as an embedded partner rather than an outside advisor.

Our Story
Vera CFO was built on a simple observation: the founders building the best businesses in the world are often flying blind financially.
They know their product, their customer, and their operation better than anyone. But financial strategy, cash flow, margins, fundraising, investor relations, is a different discipline entirely. And without that expertise in their corner, too many good businesses struggle not because of a bad idea, but because of a bad balance sheet.
Matt saw this gap firsthand while working alongside founders starting in 2020. Again and again, he encountered the same story: a talented founder with real traction and solid books, but no one turning those numbers into decisions. A full-time CFO was out of reach, the cost simply didn't make sense at their stage. So they made do without one.
Vera CFO exists to change that.
